The SSC boom continues in Hungary
UNICEF has set up their 6,100 sq m first ever global services center with the help of Cushman & Wakefield global real estate advisor recently in the refurbished Centrál Udvar office complex owned by SEB Investment GmBH.
Initially, there were 20 possible locations, which were narrowed down to three (Prague, Kuala Lumpur and Budapest) before Budapest was selected. The choice was made based on the low costs, the skilled workforce and the great infrastructure Hungary is providing. The centre in Budapest will perform mainly financial and HR operations.
The Budapest office of Cushman & Wakefield acted as the introducing agent between the Landlord and the Hungarian Government, who acted on behalf of the Tenant. The new centre conducts a broad range of UNICEF’s financial and human resources operations worldwide, enabling the children’s organization to realize greater efficiencies and cost savings.
The Global Shared Services Centre will serve the entire organization, employing over 300 staff and operating in multiple languages. It will deliver a range of administrative services to all UNICEF offices, including payments and invoice processing, payroll, some human resources functions, and the Information Technology helpdesk.
Gergely Pados, Managing Partner at Cushman & Wakefield Budapest added: “We are extremely proud to have secured the perfect location for the new global service centre one of the largest organisations in the world. More and more SSCs chose Hungary as there is highly qualified workforce and low labor cost compared to other European countries. We are proud that our professionals have the most sophisticated and widespread Client network on the market, helping them to cooperate with such tenants with great potential, as UNICEF.”
Tamara Szántó, Associate at Cushman & Wakefield Budapest said: “We happy to have been involved in UNICEFs market search and had the chance to represent the Landlord in this transaction. We have considered more options in Budapest, but finally the post-refurbishment quality of the building, its security and its location made UNICEF to choose Centrál Udvar. Amenities, location and excellent public transportation were the most important factors for UNICEF.”
The 15,000 sq m Centrál Udvar office building locatied in the 7th District of Budapest provides A category flexible office areas in variable sizes. The building offers quality office space on 8 floors and lies in the core catchment area of Astoria and Deák tér, the most important public transportation hub of the city.
