C&W has exclusively represented Budapest Bank in a lease renewal for its 8,200 sq m office at Csaba Center in Békéscsaba, Hungary.
C&W was originally mandated in 2007 to identify and complete this office from a BtS perspective, and were asked to represent the Bank again for their renewal. Budapest Bank, now owned by the Hungarian state, is the largest employer in Békéscsaba employing more than 700 people.
David M Johnston, head of office agency at C&W in Budapest, said: ‘’Given that the building was a BtS (Built-to-Suit) solution for the bank in 2007, the property still works extremely well for them from an efficiency perspective. C&W secured decent occupational savings and the ability for the bank to continue its core business from this location for the foreseeable future. Given that Békéscsaba is not the largest in terms of latent supply, we were very pleased with the terms C&W managed to secure on behalf of the bank.’’
Frigyes Lasetzky, Chief Operating Officer at Budapest Bank explained that the bank had established the Operations Center in Békéscsaba back in 2006 in order to guarantee a more efficient execution of the growing number of back office banking operations. “The Operations Center plays a strategic role both in the bank’s life and in servicing its customers, as it currently manages 80% of the bank’s back office operations. We are one of the region’s major employers with our over 700 employees, for whom here in the Center we have created a modern workplace that fully meets 21st century requirements” – he added.
